WHO WE ARE
Wake is a nonhuman animal rights organisation.
“A WORLD WHERE NONHUMAN ANIMALS ARE RESPECTED AND LIVE FREE FROM SPECIESIST DISCRIMINATION AND OPPRESSION”
We believe that the fundamental rights of nonhuman animals need to be legally recognised. To accomplish this we educate and inspire people to mobilise in ending speciesism and dismantling species-based oppression. We aid in the rehabilitation of nonhuman animals.
We treat others as we would like to be treated.
We show due regard for the feelings, wishes, and rights of others.
We listen to, and respect the ideas and opinions of others.
We are willing to face not physical danger but emotional pain, disapproval, insecurity and uncertainty rather than compromise our moral principles.
We stand proud of our values, beliefs and openly accept challenges and criticism.
We respect all animals’ rights at all times.
We follow through on our commitments.
We recognise when things go wrong and take accountability for our actions.
We believe that there is strength in a diverse activist community, focused on collaboration and solidarity.
We understand the importance of being and working together; sharing our opinions and feelings.
We believe in shared leadership.
